The Subzero Baltic 7mm wetsuit is an excellent open-cell suit with good flexibility
Our Subzero 7mm wetsuit is a deliciously flexible and comfortable open-cell suit, designed especially for UV hunting. The wetsuit is two-part and closes with two buttons, so you avoid zips and ensure less water flow and thus higher warmth.
A 7mm wetsuit for underwater hunting is what we describe as a year-round suit. You can ideally use it throughout the winter period, with a pair of warm and thick socks and gloves. Of course, the suit also comes with a built-in hood, which you can use according to need and water temperature.
The wetsuit is sewn together with blind stitch, which means more warmth for longer
The less water flow your wetsuit has, the better you can keep warm. Your body must use energy to heat up the water that penetrates the wetsuit. The less water gets in, the less energy your body has to use to keep you warm.
That's why the Subzero wetsuit is here, sewn with what is called Blind Stitch. Blind Stitch means that the needle and thread do not go all the way through the neoprene, but only halfway. In this way, the water cannot be led into the dog via the wire and the hole in the suit. Pretty brilliant.
Simple and straightforward design combined with small details make all the difference
With our more than 20 years of experience with underwater hunting, we have found out which details can make a significant difference to the experience in the water. Two buttons in the closure instead of a single one do more for comfort than you might think. The closure of the upper part is located in the crotch. With just one button, you will feel significant discomfort in that area. Fortunately, a simple solution like adding an extra button can solve that problem quite simply.
We have placed a nice and thick loading plate on the chest so that you can easily load your harpoon without turning yellow and blue from the pressure on the chest. In addition, we have added extra strong protection on the knees and elbows, which is perfect for hunting mullet, sea trout or turbot, where you are often in shallow water and can hit sharp clam banks, rocks, etc. The extra strong protection on the knees and elbows also suit ideal for hunting wrecks and reefs.
An open-cell wetsuit is the optimal choice for the underwater hunter
As an underwater hunter, you can spend many hours in the water and this places greater demands on your wetsuit. Open-cell wetsuits have on the inside of the suit, not a layer of nylon as it has on the outside. This means that on the inside you get the raw neoprene exposed and glued to the body. The raw neoprene creates less water flow and therefore ensures that you can keep the heat better and for longer. On the other hand, an open-cell wetsuit is more difficult to put on, but once you have the technique, it is a simple matter.
