What wetsuit size should I choose?
For a wetsuit to keep you warm and provide maximum comfort, it should fit closely to the body without feeling restrictive. If the suit is too loose, too much cold water will enter. If it is too tight, it can restrict movement, breathing and comfort.
Women’s wetsuits are cut specifically for the female body and therefore often provide a better fit, comfort and warmth than unisex models. Sizing varies from brand to brand and from model to model. On each product page, you will find a size guide with body measurements and recommended sizes. If you are unsure, you are always welcome to contact us.
How thick should a women’s wetsuit for watersports be?
The thickness of the neoprene determines the cold conditions the suit is suitable for. The thicker the neoprene, the more warmth — but also usually slightly less flexibility. That is why you should choose thickness based on water temperature, season and activity.
For kitesurfing, windsurfing, wing foiling and surfing, flexibility in the shoulders, arms and upper body is important because you move actively. For SUP, kayaking and winter bathing, extra warmth can be more important because you often stand more still or are less active in the water.
For summer use, a 3 mm suit or shorty is often sufficient. For spring and autumn, a 4/3 mm or 5/4 mm suit is typically a better choice. If you want to get on the water all year round, you should choose a warm 5 mm or 6 mm winter wetsuit — ideally combined with a hood, gloves and neoprene boots.
Which wetsuit should I use in summer?
In summer in Denmark, you can choose anything from a 3 mm steamer to a shorty, depending on water temperature, wind conditions and how sensitive you are to cold. A steamer with long arms and legs provides good warmth and protection from sun, wind, board contact and hard landings.
A shorty with short arms and legs is typically made from 2 mm neoprene and is ideal for warm days, SUP, beach use and shorter sessions. A springsuit with long legs and short arms is a good compromise if you want more warmth around the legs while still maintaining good freedom of movement in the upper body.
Which wetsuit should I use in winter?
For winter use, we typically recommend a 5 mm or 6 mm women’s wetsuit with warm lining and possibly an integrated hood. This is especially relevant if you want to continue kitesurfing, windsurfing, wing foiling, SUP or surfing during the colder months.
Combine the suit with neoprene boots, neoprene gloves and a hood to keep your whole body warm. Hands, feet and head get cold quickly, and the right accessories can make a big difference to how long you can stay on the water.
When do I need a 5 mm wetsuit?
A 5 mm wetsuit is typically recommended for water temperatures of around 10–17 degrees — especially during spring and autumn in Denmark. It is a good choice if you want extra warmth without going all the way up to a heavy winter suit.
With the right accessories such as a hood, thermal layer, gloves and neoprene boots, a 5 mm suit can also be used in milder winter conditions. If you are very sensitive to cold, or want to go out on the coldest days, a 6 mm winter wetsuit may be a better choice.
What is the difference between wetsuits for kitesurfing, SUP, windsurfing and surfing?
Many women’s wetsuits can be used across several types of watersports, but the needs vary slightly from activity to activity.
For kitesurfing, windsurfing and wing foiling, flexibility in the shoulders and upper body is important because you work with a bar, boom or wing. For wave surfing, freedom of movement is also essential, especially when paddling and getting up on the board. For SUP, kayaking and winter bathing, warmth and comfort may be more important than maximum flexibility, because the activity level is often lower.
That is why you should choose a wetsuit based on temperature, activity and your personal sensitivity to cold.
What is the advantage of front zip compared to back zip?
A front zip or chest zip wetsuit typically provides better flexibility and freedom of movement than a back zip, because the zipper is placed on the chest instead of down the back. Front zip also often retains heat better, as less water usually enters the suit.
Front zip can be slightly harder to get into than back zip, but for active watersports it is often the best choice if you prioritise warmth, performance and freedom of movement.
Are there wetsuits without a zipper?
Yes — zipless or zipfree suits do not have a traditional zipper and fit very closely to the body. They provide maximum flexibility and freedom of movement, which is especially beneficial for surfing, kitesurfing, windsurfing and wing foiling.
They can be slightly harder to get in and out of than suits with a zipper, but in return you get a very flexible and close-fitting wetsuit with high comfort.
