Light wind? No problem. The Trace has a progressive straight, square outline and large surface area for early planing and upwind performance in the lightest winds. A Centre-V Spine and longitudinal quad channels provide balanced torsional stiffness, superb traction and more control. The progressive medium-low rocker is ideal for flatwater. It also enables phenomenal pop for lightwind tricks and transitions and surprising maneuverability for its size. Pair the Trace with our Reach 13/15/17m to maximize your ride time in the lightest of winds. For 2024 all North TwinTips feature the new FlipTech Mounting System, with centreline inserts for added rail longevity.

Tech features

Early planing & upwind performance

The combination of extra waterline length, a straighter, square outline, wide tips and medium rocker guarantees early planing and superior upwind performance in the lightest wind.

The board's larger surface area helps you build up resistance against the kite for greater forward momentum.

Center V-Spine and quad channels

The longitudinal quad concave channels with V-spine in the middle provide added stiffness and help to deflect the water, thus creating less drag and less resistance across the board's surface.

The channels and V-spine also help with upwind traction and high-speed control.

Phenomenal pop

The progressive medium-low rocker line is ideal for flatwater, and it creates a board with phenomenal pop for light wind tricks and transitions, that is surprisingly maneuverable and easy turning despite its size.

The Reach's fuller profile generates power and efficiency, while its lighter weight 3-strut construction delivers quick, responsive steering in even the lightest wind. In the three larger sizes, the Reach is a powerful light wind kite, designed with a predictable, consistent drive forward for TwinTip riding long after everyone else has gone in.

Balanced rocker, outline and flex

The flex characteristic of every TwinTip Board is determined by multiple features built into each specific design. Core thickness variations and taper, as well as detailing, longitudinally and laterally, play the most significant role in controlling the overall flex and feel.

Board specific laminate layups then allow us to further fine tune the flex and board characteristics. We adjust the stiffness lengthwise and torsionally in conjunction with the rocker line, plan shape view and profile of the board, to give each board its specific performance characteristics.

Hybrid carbon construction

Strategically placed layers of unidirectional carbon tape reinforce the E-glass laminate for well-balanced flex so you can ride for longer, with flow and form. This unique layup is sandwiched with a Paulownia wood core and reinforced with e-glass patches in high load areas.

Lightweight, impact resistant paulownia wood core

Paulownia is a highly renewable hardwood species, with one of the highest strength to weight ratios.

Ultra-lightweight, with a high shear force and high impact resistance, Paulownia wood forms a non-toxic core which significantly displaces the amount of foam or resin used in manufacturing, thereby reducing carbon emissions. Each board has a customized core thickness individually fine-tuned to ensure its characteristics are consistent throughout the range, no matter your size or weight.

Standardized M6 Stainless hardware

Standardized SS316 M6x16mm hardware across all twin tip boards and accessories enables the use of the same PH3 screwdriver for assembly and makes replacement of parts super easy.

Strong, abrasion resistant composite fins with dogbone washers and M6x16mm standardized screws.

FlipTech Mounting

For 2024, all of the North TwinTip boards our new FlipTech Mounting System, with centreline inserts. This means if you wear out one side of your board, simply flip the bindings around and you've got a shiny new heelside rail again.

We recommend pairing your Trace with the Flex or Flex Pro bindings, which provide soft cushioning with just the right amount of grip underfoot. The new anatomically-shaped heel cup supports and stabilizes the foot upon landing, giving your heel the correct orthopedic position and preventing slipping. Pure-comfort seamless KnitFlex inners and triple-density footbeds are combined with customized size and stance adjustments for a locked-in feel. Sold separately in sizes S, M, L and XL.
