The story
In 2018, researchers found that puffins' beaks can glow in the dark. This discovery, however, was common knowledge among the captains of the past, who, after seeing this practical function of the grove, quickly replaced the parrot they had on their shoulder with the new and modern "sea parrot". The grove was ideal company on night watches, where it functioned as a book lamp if the captain intended to read charts or a pirate novel.
